Benefits

NHA’s Virtual Gala reduces event-related costs by more than 200 percent over a live gala so more of your donation goes to helping us provide thousands of San Diegans this year with vital social services including employment, healthcare, child, family and senior services. NHA serves the community through a network of 10 programs in more than 100 locations throughout the county.

Those We Serve

NHA provides more than 1,000 low-income seniors with food and other services every month. For Ruby, this is a service she can’t live without. At 75 years old, Ruby lives by herself. Getting to her medical appointments is a struggle. Her income is not enough to buy the prescriptions, food and support she needs to survive on a daily basis. She depends on Neighborhood House Association’s Senior Service Center to get her to medical appointments, provide her a nutritious lunch each day and for social activities.

Everyday, NHA serves more than 8,000 children from birth to 5 years old, including 4 year old Maria. Maria’s mother is a single mom who works while attending school part-time to finish her degree. Her income is not enough to pay for child care and living expenses for her and her daughter. Neighborhood House Association’s Head Start program provides Maria a safe, enriching learning experience during the day while her mother is at work or school. Maria’s mother enjoys peace of mind that her child is well cared for, all at no cost to care for Maria.

NHA provides support programs to thousands of San Diegans annually. Many Americans are just a paycheck away from being homeless. Where do you turn if you are a family and find yourself living in your car or on the streets, with no job, no income and no way to feed your family? Where do you go if you suffer from mental health issues, HIV/AIDS or are a senior who needs help but you can’t afford private care? Who do you talk to if you’re a teen who is trying to stay away from risky behavior patterns or a single parent trying to create a better future for your family? For nearly 100 years, Neighborhood House Association has provided a safety net for San Diego’s  families who may need a helping hand during tough times.
